Whoopi Goldberg missed The View on Wednesday to work on a mystery project that will be revealed soon, Joy Behar teased.

"As you can see, Whoopi is off today. She's off doing something really exciting," the 81-year-old cohost said at the top of the show's live telecast, which she appeared on as a fill-in moderator in Goldberg's absence.

The comedian continued to hint at the 67-year-old Oscar-winning Ghost actress' big development, urging the audience to tune in to a future episode for more information.

"I can't tell you what it is," Behar said. "We want you to watch on Monday, when she'll tell you what it is. But trust me, it's a good one."

EW has reached out to representatives for Goldberg and The View for comment.

Goldberg has served as head moderator of The View since 2007, with Behar stepping in to move the Hot Topics discussions along when her fellow panelist is absent.

Over the years, Goldberg has missed appearing on the show for various reasons, from her two-week suspension over controversial remarks about the Holocaust and cases of coronavirus to taking time off to work on acting projects, such as Anansi Boys.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET.
