Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain Have Another Awkward Exchange on 'The View': 'Whoopi Gets to Do Her Job'

The co-host took to Twitter on Tuesday, one day after the tense exchange.

The uncomfortable moments kept coming on Wednesday's episode of The View.

As the ladies discussed Liz Cheney, Meghan McCain revealed that she had unsuccessfully tried to get the GOP congresswoman to appear on The View. After McCain lamented that Cheney had not returned her emails, she said, "I know we have to go to a commercial."

"We do, but I don’t understand what this is telling me," Whoopi Goldberg replied, referencing the teleprompter, which read, "Meghan, we'll get you when we get back."

"It means we don’t have time for me in this segment," McCain explained. "And they are not playing me out like the Oscars and they are having you do it this time."

"That means I get to do my job?" Goldberg questioned.

"Yeah, Whoopi gets to do her job," McCain snapped back, before Goldberg took the show to its break.

The awkward moment came after a tense exchange on Tuesday's episode of the ABC morning show, which came when the women were discussing a military officer that was asked to testify about President Donald Trump's Ukraine phone call.

After McCain and Joy Behar's back-and-forth turned into a screaming match, Goldberg told everybody to "take a breath."

"This show has always had the ability to have different points of view, which we respect around the table," Goldberg said. "When we talk to each other, we also exhibit respect. So, when I’m saying to you, 'Hold up, because we’re not hearing each other,' I’m not trying to cut you off, I’m trying to get you heard."

ET caught up with McCain back in September, and she revealed why she continues to serve as the conservative voice on The View despite the frequent spats with her co-hosts.

"I try to just remind myself that I'm representing 50% of the country," she said at the time. "I'm representing a bunch of women even though I only have one chair, and it's really important."

"We all have other projects and things going on. I actually forget about it," she added of her on-camera disagreements. "Other people remind me of fights, I'm like, 'I don't remember that one happening.' So, you know, I let it roll off pretty easy."
