Whoopi Goldberg debunks rumors about herself, including Epstein list, backstage Oprah fight: 'It's insane'

"I didn't get into a fight with Oprah [Winfrey] backstage here at 'The View.' It's insane," the actress said.

Whoopi Goldberg is setting the record straight on any potential rumors about her, four days into the new year.

The EGOT winner slammed conspiracy theorists and “harmful” satire websites that have recently published a series of false rumors about her online — including one that she was on a “fake list” of celebrities who had visited convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s island — during a discussion about the recently unsealed Epstein-connected court documents on Thursday’s episode of The View.

“Let me bring that up, the conspiracy theory folks,” Goldberg remarked. “I have to explain, because there was a fake list and I’m on it… They said I was on the island and I’m like, ‘I don’t go anywhere.’”

The moderator admitted that “there’s been a lot of stuff recently” posted online about her. “I don’t know what I’ve done to anybody,” she said, “but apparently there are a lot of these kind of sites that are satire sites, but people don’t realize that they can be harmful.”

“So let me just get my part out,” Goldberg continued. “I’ve never been kicked out of Gordon Ramsay's restaurant. I've never been kicked out of Guy Fieri's restaurant. I didn't get kicked off Bill Maher's show. I didn't get into a fight with Oprah [Winfrey] backstage here at The View. It's insane, it goes on and on and on."

The actress said websites “get away with posting all kinds of garbage” by calling it satire, but noted that those jokes can still have serious repercussions in the future. “I’m saying this now as we’re talking about this: people who post these things should be very careful, because once someone is cleared of your insanity, they're going to call their lawyer on you."

She added that it's "important for people to recognize what is satire" when scrolling online — and that the websites that are satirizing the news should also note "in big, bold writing: 'This is satire.'"

Goldberg circled back at the end of the discussion to tell viewers that they should only believe information about her that she shares publicly.

"You'll know if I'm doing something — I'll let you know! I have nothing to hide. I don't care what people think. If I like doing it, I'm gonna let you know,” she said. “But if they told you Oprah was backstage and you didn't see Oprah on the show? It's so insane! And you know I don't go anywhere! Unless I tell you I went somewhere. Okay? Are we good?"
