Whoopi Goldberg Clarifies She Hasn't Been to Jail Despite Comment on “The View”: 'Don't Get It Twisted!'

"You'll be looking until the cows come home, honey!" the comedian said on Wednesday's episode of 'The View'

Whoopi Goldberg has had a lot of titles in her career, but "inmate" hasn't been one of them.

The comedian and EGOT winner closed out Wednesday's episode of The View by insisting that she's never been to jail, despite making a comment about having previously been behind bars earlier in the show.

"Don’t get it twisted, I’m a humorist. So stop looking it up, 'cause that’s what I know is happening," Goldberg, 68, joked. "'When was she in jail?' You’ll be looking until the cows come home, honey!"

Her words appeared equally helpful for Goldberg's View co-hosts Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin, who appeared to buy the jokes earlier in the show.

The topic came up when The View debuted a new segment called “Drop the Topic,” in which the co-hosts were challenged to discuss a mystery Hot Topic as a punishment of sorts for not agreeing on a topic in a pre-production meeting.

After pulling an option from a bag, a question was posed to the ladies: “Would you rather hike the Appellation Trail by yourself, or spend six months in jail?”

Goldberg stayed mostly quiet as Haines, 46, Behar, 81, Hostin, 55, and Farah Griffin, 34, debated their options. But when Farah Griffin asked Goldberg, "What would you do?" she stunned the ladies with her answer.

"Well... I've done both," said Goldberg, with a straight face.

As the women reacted, Behar pressed her longtime friend for more information. "When were you in jail, Whoopi?" she wondered.

"Doesn’t matter, does it?" Goldberg said, holding stern. "I’ll tell you about it."

She then, amid the co-hosts frustration with the debate, brought the show back to the original topic they had previously passed on.

"Well, you gave up a fairly good topic to talk about this," Goldberg explained. "The other topic was about the man and the woman, the woman says she doesn't like the kind of sex that her husband [has with her.] She calls it 'vanilla sex.' I said, ‘Well what kind of stuff are you looking for?’ They did not have an answer for that!"

The upcoming Sister Act 3 star then gave perfect advice to the women.

"She should've just gotten herself something she could put a battery in," Goldberg joked. "Put some google eyes in it and talk to it and let it say whatever it needs to say — Yes, no, yes, no."
