Whoopi Goldberg begs judge to fine Donald Trump $10 million over court drama: 'He might shut up'

Whoopi Goldberg wants Donald Trump to dig deep into his pockets to literally pay for his ongoing courtroom chaos.

The View moderator cued up footage of Trump leaving court earlier this week, telling audiences that "it was another bad day" for the former president amid his legal troubles, which include indictments for everything from alleged efforts to unfairly overturn the 2020 election to conspiracy to commit forgery and more.

"He was fined when he disparaged a law clerk, but it didn't stop him from spewing more nonsense when he stomped out of the courtroom," the EGOT-winning actress said, referencing a New York judge fining Trump $10,000 for violating a gag order related to the case.

The show then played a clip of Trump leaving the courtroom, in which he proclaimed that a "witness just admitted that we won the trial" as The View audience laughed back in the studio.

"What trial is he talking about? He has not won a trial. You know, every time we say something that is mistaken, 5 million people come down on us and go, 'You need to correct that.' I would like the judge to say, 'You know what, D? I think, from now on, every time you disparage or run over some other law or gag order we've put in, it's going to cost you $10 million,'" Goldberg stressed. "I feel like he thinks $10,000 doesn't mean anything, so he keeps doing it."

Goldberg doubled down, expressing that such a stiff fine could mean "he might shut up" about the case.

When Sunny Hostin, the show's legal expert added, "He does not have that much money," Goldberg quipped, "I think we should find out. Come on, judge! Fine him!"

Concluding the segment, Hostin read one of the show's iconic legal notes, this time indicating that Trump — who pleaded not guilty — labeled the trial a "witch hunt" and that he maintained his innocence in all state and federal cases against him.

In April, when Trump was hit with his first indictment of 2023, the Apprentice star's former associate, Alyssa Farah Griffin, told her View cohosts that her ex-boss was "spiraling" over the development.

"I know him well enough to know that he's not loving this," Griffin said. "He's somebody who, despite his terrible actions, does think about legacy of how he's perceived. And now, his life, whether it's his obituary, is going to say he was indicted, the first American president to be. Right now, his team is freaking out over a potential gag order from the judge, which would prevent him from being able to speak about what happened. And that's what he wants, he wants to go out and frame this his own way and spin the public."
