President Joe Biden plans on walking his dogs, Champ and Major, himself!

Last month, the two adorable German shepherds both moved into the White House, just four days after Biden, 78, was officially inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States.

Since arriving, the pups have made themselves at home and have made headlines. On Sunday, both Champ and Major, were photographed enjoying the snowfall on the White House's South Lawn in a tweet shared by the president's granddaughter, Naomi Biden.

Many Americans are probably wondering about the daily lives of first pets. In a new article published by The Washington Post, White House chief usher Gary J. Walters answers some of the most burning presidential pet questions.

For starters, Walters noted that every first family is different, telling the outlet that some families prefer to take care of their pets entirely themselves. However, the residence's staff is always ready to jump in and help.

It seems that the Biden family will be do-it-yourselfers. Mark Tobin, a Delaware police dog trainer that worked with the family, previously told the Washington Post that Biden plans to walk his dogs himself.

"He's going to do it himself," Tobin said early January. "He's going to walk the dog."

While the Bidens plan to care for Major and Champ on their own, the pups will certainly make friends with Dale Haney, the White Houe's longtime chief groundskeeper, who is known to have a soft spot for pets.

Earlier this month, he was photographed with Major and Champ on a stroll around the White House grounds.

There are some added perks for the first families when it comes to their beloved furry friends. For instance, whenever the Bidens want to get away and take a vacation, Major and Champ will be adoringly cared for by the staff at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave — no need for a dog-sitter.

Another convenience is that veterinarians will often make house calls to the White House to treat the first pets. Otherwise, a staff member can drive the animals to their appointments.

In terms of where pets are allowed in the historic home, they are often permitted to roam free, including into the West Wing offices.

Champ and Major are the first pooches to live in the White House in four years, as former President Donald Trump was the first president to not have a dog since President William McKinley in 1897, per CBS News.

Major is making history as the first rescue dog to live at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The Biden family adopted Major from the Delaware Humane Association (DHA) in November 2018, 10 years after they welcomed their first German shepherd, Champ.
