During a Thursday morning appearance on Fox News, White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham defended President Donald Trump’s reference to unsupportive Republicans as “human scum.”
“The people who are against him and who have been against him and working against him since the day they took office are just that,” she told the hosts of the “Fox & Friends” morning show, apparently broadening the criticism to include not just Never-Trump Republicans but Democrats and Independents as well. “It is horrible that people are working against a president who is delivering results for this country and has been since day one.”
She concluded, “They deserve strong language like that.”
That “strong language” she referenced came in the form of two separate tweets Wednesday. First, the president tweeted, “The Never Trumper Republicans, though on respirators with not many left, are in certain ways worse and more dangerous for our Country than the Do Nothing Democrats. Watch out for them, they are human scum!”
He railed against them in a second tweet, writing, “It would be really great if the people within the Trump Administration, all well-meaning and good (I hope!), could stop hiring Never Trumpers, who are worse than the Do Nothing Democrats. Nothing good will ever come from them!”
The tweets came a few days after it was announced that the anonymous administration official who wrote an op-ed about “resistance” within the White House will be releasing a new book called “A Warning.” It is already a #1 best-seller on Amazon.
