Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from prison on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, after serving eight years of a 10-year prison sentence for her mother's death.

Interest in her story is soaring. Several documentaries and true crime dramas detail Gypsy’s life story, including “The Act,” two movies and a new Lifetime documentary set to drop on Jan. 5.

In 2016, Gypsy pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of her mother Dee Dee Blanchard. She had plotted the murder with her boyfriend at the time, Nicholas “Nick” Godejohn, who was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.

In court, it was argued that Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Her mother subjected her to unnecessary medical treatment as a child and convinced Gypsy and others that she had many illnesses.

Now out of prison, Gypsy has been spending the holidays with her husband Ryan Anderson, her father Rod Blanchard and her stepmom Kristy. She’s been sharing photos on her Instagram @gypsyrose_a_blanchard.
