Where to eat late-night food in East Nashville? Cheers to burgers, tacos, quesadillas

There are plenty of late-night eats to be found in East Nashville, which has always been a hot spot for locals and service industry workers.

The crowds spilling over from downtown have found it, too, lured by a relatively tame nightlife scene, at least compared to the din of Lower Broadway.

They come for creative cocktail bars and dives, as well as, increasingly, late-night food that's far removed from your standard big chain eats. Here's where to go if you find yourself east of the city, hungry, late at night.

Where to find pub food, snacks, that great Spicy Boy's gumbo

5 Points Diner: The kitchen here is open until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, serving pub fare like wings, burgers and chicken tenders. www.5pointsdiner.com, 1016 Woodland St.

Nobles: The late-night menu here, full of sliders, nachos, Southwestern-style egg rolls and other pub fare, is served until midnight on weekdays and until 2 a.m. on weekends. noblesbeerhall.com, 974 Main St.

Golden Pony: The kitchen here is open daily until at least midnight, serving crispy chicken sandwiches, hot honey toast, a few assorted dips and other snacks. goldenponynashville.com, 757 Douglas Ave.

Spicy Boy's: A departure from the normal and somewhat widely available bar food on the east side, this spot serves excellent gumbo, po' boys and debris fries almost daily until midnight, though they close up shop at 10 p.m. on Sundays and are closed Mondays. spicyboysnashville.com, 924 Mcferrin Ave.

Schulman's: Order the pastrami dip and thank us later. Last call for that and other dishes, including vegan chicken sandwiches and cheeseburgers, is 1:30 a.m. daily. www.schulmansbar.com, 1201 Porter Road.

Beyond the Edge: Get burgers, fries, wings, salads and sandwiches until 2 a.m. daily at this east-side sports bar. www.beyondtheedge.net, 112 S. 11th St.

Inglewood Lounge: This bar is open until 1 a.m. daily, with the kitchen running all night. You can find spicy piri-piri chicken sandwiches, loaded fries, birria tacos, burgers, wings and some fried goat cheese because sometimes something like that just hits the spot. inglewoodlounge.com, 3914 Gallatin Pike.

Dino's: This longtime Nashville haunt is open daily until 3 a.m., with last call for food around 30 minutes before close. Expect cheeseburgers, fried chicken sandwiches, chili, grilled cheese sandwiches and other menu items. www.dinosnashville.com, 411 Gallatin Ave.

Lakeside Lounge: This fun, no-frills bar serves pub food — think chicken sandwiches, wings, burgers and the like ― until 2:30 a.m. daily. www.lakesideloungebna.com, 921 Woodland St.

Bad Luck Burger Club: This food truck slings some of the best burgers around, and it's open late most nights ― until 11 p.m. weekdays and until midnight on weekends. Joyland: This casual Sean Brock offering serves until 10 p.m. on most nights, but stays open until 2 a.m. on weekends for all your crustburger, fried chicken sandwich and malted milkshake needs. Late-night pizza at Five Points, Roy's

Five Points Pizza: Both the east and west locations of this Nashville pizza haunt are only open until 10 p.m. on weekdays, but on weekends, they're both open until 11 p.m. for all your hot slice needs. fivepointspizza.com, 1012 Woodland St.

Roy's Tavern: This fun tavern — part sports bar, part dive — serves food until 2 a.m. daily, including great tavern-style pizzas, smash burgers, double-fried wings and loaded tots at 3807 Gallatin Pike.

Asian-ish food long after dark

Hawkers: This Asian street food restaurant is open until 10 p.m. most nights, but stays open until 11 p.m. on Thursdays and midnight on weekends. order.eathawkers.com, 626A Main St.

Bad Idea: This Five Points restaurant serves wine and thoughtfully imaginative Asian-inspired late-night eats such as a take on chicken katsu with house pickles and sauces. Food is available until 12:30 a.m. daily. www.badideanashville.com, 1021 Russell St.

Pearl Diver: The reason to visit this place is for the tropical drinks and vibe, but it serves Asian- and island-inspired food such as egg rolls, fried rice and lo mein. You can also find Cuban sandwiches, tacos and burgers. Like we said, "Asian-ish." Tacos, Sweeza Super Quesadillas, more

Velvet Taco: We slipped this chain taco spot in here because it's open super late — until 4 a.m. on weekends at the East Nashville and Midtown locations. It's also open until 1 a.m. on Sundays, midnight Mondays-Wednesdays and 2 a.m. on Thursdays. www.velvettaco.com/locations

Sweeza Super Quesadilla: This restaurant in the Wash is open until 11 p.m. Sundays-Wednesdays and until midnight Thursdays-Saturdays, serving giant Mission-style quesadillas, tostadas and salads. You'll want the Don Juan Especial, which is a big-as-your-head quesadilla, stuffed with french fries, chopped fried jalapenos and double steak. www.sweezasuperquesadilla.com, 1101 McKennie Ave.

Tacos y Mariscos Lindo Mexico: This Madison taco spot is open until midnight most days, but stays open until 1 a.m. on weekends, serving classic street tacos and more Mexican favorites. 917B Gallatin Pike S.

Bartaco: This taco shop is open late daily. The hours for weekdays change, but the Cali-Mex taco restaurant with the full bar is open until at least 10 p.m. on weekdays and until midnight on weekends. Crispy oyster tacos just hit different late at night. bartaco.com, 1000 Woodland St.
