Texans are some of the most talented people in the country, a new report says.

Texas ranked third overall on a list of states that produced the most “stars” — notable figures in film, music, sports and comedy — compiled by box-office management company TicketSource.

With 8,299 total native-born stars, Texas ranked behind first-place California and New York, which were boosted by significant numbers of actors and comedians.

In specific categories, Texas ranked fourth in the number of notable actors, third in notable singers and eighth in notable comedians.

Texas boasts more notable athletes than any other state

Texas really shines in the sports category, though. The state claims the most notable athletes of any state with 5,791 stars, more than 1,000 ahead of second-place Illinois.

Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat, D’Onta Foreman of the Chicago Bears and Quinn Ewers of the Texas Longhorns are only a few of the many athletes who call Texas their birthplace. Most of the state’s athletic stars play football or baseball, but basketball and hockey players also make up a sizable chunk.
