Where to catch a glimpse of the stars at the Palm Springs International Film Festival

The red carpet is waiting to be unrolled and the awards are ready to be given out, which can mean only one thing: The Palm Springs International Film Awards are back.

The annual star-studded event on Thursday will honor some of the year's brightest stars and kick off awards season, ahead of the Golden Globes on Sunday. Honorees "Killers of the Flower Moon" (Vanguard Award), Emma Stone (Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress), Cillian Murphy (Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Breakthrough Performance Award), Greta Gerwig (Director of the Year Award), Jeffrey Wright (Career Achievement Award), Carey Mulligan (International Star Award, Actress), Colman Domingo (Spotlight Award, Actor), Danielle Brooks (Spotlight Award, Actress), Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell (Chairman's Award) and Paul Giamatti (Icon Award).

But you don't need a golden ticket into the Palm Springs Convention Center to catch a glimpse of these stars. Like with many other red carpet, fans can line up near the arrivals area in hopes of snagging a selfie or autograph from some of their favorite filmmakers.

Red carpet arrivals begin at approximately 4 p.m., while the event begins at 6 p.m. The Palm Springs Convention Center is located at 277 N. Avenida Caballeros.

The panels are scheduled for noon and 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8 at the Annenberg Theater at the Palm Springs Art Museum. The list of participants is still not available on the festival website.

Plenty of other filmmakers are expected to stop by for post-screening Q&As, including those associated with "The Promised Land," "We Have Never Been Modern," "Green Border" and more.
