What's the worst Christmas song ever? You decide.

Here’s a special kind of fear most people have around the Christmas season.

You get in the car, turn the radio to the station that’s spreading a little holiday cheer and hear — THAT SONG.

It’s the evil earworm that seems to take up residency in your head until the Christmas tree is taken down.

After all, how many times can you stand “Wonderful Christmastime” going through your head?

Some holiday songs are so bad that after one season they're launched into oblivion. In 2005, NewSong came out with “Christmas Shoes,'' a tear-jerker about a little child wanting to purchase shoes for her terminally ill mother in case she meets Jesus on Christmas. It’s downright depressing. After one year, the song was rarely, if ever, played and rapidly climbed up the worst Christmas song list.

The late John Denver came out with this legendary song, “Please Daddy (Don’t Get Drunk This Christmas).” The song is a tale of a dad who, on Christmas Eve, comes home schnockered and passes out under the tree, causing Mommy to cry. As his son goes to bed, Dad waves and yells "Merry Christmas'' to the boy. That’s it. John Denver made some fine Christmas music — especially with the Muppets — but this ditty was not among the good ones.

The topper may be “An Old Fashioned Christmas (Daddy's Home).” The song by Linda Bennett is an incredible abomination. So here’s the link to this jaw-dropping ditty. Judge for yourself, but I’ll say it makes "Christmas Shoes'' sound like a Grammy winner.

While all these songs are terrible, some songs we loathe are good or fun, but are played so much our love turns into blind rage. For some, it’s “All I Want for Christmas” by the self-proclaimed queen of Christmas Mariah Carey. For others, it’s “Back Door Santa” by Bon Jovi or “Grandma Got Runover By A Reindeer” by Elmo and Patsy.
