What's the new steakhouse in Newport? The latest concept from TSK

Newport has a new steakhouse, sort of.

TSK has reopened from its traditional January break as a boutique steakhouse featuring specialty meats butchered at Mission, their sister restaurant in Middletown. There will still be a blend of elegant dishes and inspired flavors, but with the addition of Mission Cut New York strip steaks and ribeyes. The signature will be 29-to-40-ounce bone-in cuts.

The ownership team remains intact, with chefs Chad Hoffer and Tyler Burnley. Anna Jenkins Burnley is the third partner, and she handles the business side of things and speaks for the team. She pledged that TSK will remain a place for all diners.

"You can come in as vegetarian and the team will whip something up for you," she said.

It's not the first time TSK has retooled. It began in 2011 as the small BYOB Thames Street Kitchen they ran until 2015.

Hoffer runs the kitchen at TSK, as he has since they opened in the larger space at 509 Thames St. in 2018 with 45 seats inside and 30 on the patio. They arrived as the permanent restaurant of the Revolving Door, then a project of the former Bouchard Restaurant owners.

Still on the menu will be familiar dishes like the popular Raviolo, a stuffed pasta with bits of prosciutto and a creamy egg yolk. Halibut and chicken will offer protein choices additional to the beef.

Burnley said the trio will continue to run Mission, at 58 Aquidneck Ave, in Middletown, as they have for a decade, serving their signature burgers and fries.

They also recently opened a boutique shop, Utility, next door to Mission. Utility is geared to the home chef and hosts. Burnley's design background inspired her to make the aesthetically pleasing space, which enjoyed solid holiday sales.
