What's the most popular Halloween costume in Kentucky? How to stand out this year

If you haven't bought your costume yet for Halloween, now's the time! There's even a new online tool to help you find the best or most unique costume to stand out at your favorite Halloween haunts this year.

Google Trends has launched Frightgeist, a realtime trending search engine that keeps track of the most-search costumes both nationally and based on your location, including here in Louisville.

If you're looking for something more unique to scare up a few compliments this year, Frightgeist's Costume Wizard can help you drum up ideas based on how scary or unique you'd like your ideal costume to be. You can also see what's popular in other state based on their costume map.

So far, the most-searched costume in Louisville is Barbie, following along with the national trend. The frightening popularity of this costume comes as no surprise, given the success of the Greta Gerwig-directed film, which is the largest worldwide film release of 2023 and the highest-grossing film in Warner Bros. history.
