Saturday, Jan. 28

Boys' basketball

EDGEWOOD 52, MONROVIA 43: Mialin White had 12 of his 14 points after halftime and that's when Jacob Boggs scored all of his eight to lift the Mustangs, who led just 22-21 at half. It was a balanced effort overall, however, as Xzander Hammonds had nine points, Carl Norris had eight points and 10 rebounds and Carson Huttenlocker had seven points. Boggs also grabbed seven boards and had three assists. Edgewood (8-10) was 12-of-16 at the line while Monrovia (3-13) was just 6-of-16.

BLOOMINGTON NORTH 80, COLUMBUS EAST 50: The Cougars blew out to a 29-5 lead in the first quarter and built the lead up to 36 midway through the third to bring in the running clock to finish it out. North shot over 60% for the game.

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 78, SILVER CREEK 68: The Panthers led 41-35 at halftime and pulled out a high scoring contest. It was the most points South's given up in a game since Feb 8, 2019 and a 75-69 OT win over Columbus North.

NEW WASHINGTON 74, LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN 59: Lions fall to 12-3.

EASTERN GREENE 57, CLOVERDALE 43: The T-Birds (5-12) end an 11-game losing streak with first win since Dec. 10.

Girls' basketball

EVANSVILLE NORTH 43, BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 29: Panthers (13-8) struggle offensively in final game of the regular season. Carlie Pedersen had 13 points and Caitlin Heim nine, but the rest of the team had just seven. Huskies (17-6) took advantage to lead 24-12 by halftime and 38-17 after three.

Evansville North (17-6) 14 | 10 | 14 | 5 — 43

SOUTHERN ROADS CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT: Lighthouse Christian went 2-1 to claim third place to finish a stretch of 10 games in 13 days. The Lions (8-15) opened with a 55-40 win over host Seven Oaks Classical as Abagail Rousey had 33 points. Then came a 64-53 loss to top seed Medora. The Lions got down 15 by halftime but managed to get it within three late. Rousey had 27 points but Jenna Bowers of Medora answered with 42, with 16 coming at the line. LCA then finished with a 61-47 win over Columbus Christian in the third place game. Rousey had another 33 points, giving her 93 on the day, and Jane Holdeman had a career high 16.

Gymnastics

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH INVITATIONAL: Bloomington North won the eight-team meet title with a 105.325 while South took second with a season best 103.425. Owen Valley had 90.025 and Edgewood a 65.5. North had a 28 on floor, while the Panthers had three 26+ scores on vault, beam and floor to top their previous best by three points. Top performers: Vault: 1. Hope Taylor, BN 9.45; 5. Boys' basketball

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 64, TERRE HAUTE SOUTH 59: It was a Conference Indiana road win and the third nail-bitter in a row the Panthers have pulled out after consecutive overtime wins last week. Bloomington South (12-5, 1-3) struggled early, falling behind 15-8 in the first quarter, but rallied late in the third, finishing the period on a 7-2 run to go up 46-43. THS' conference losing skid has now reached 24.

LINTON 79, EASTERN GREENE 42: The Class 2A No. 1 Miners (16-1, 5-0) were too much, jumping up 22-11 after one and 43-17 by halftime to put their SWIAC contest away early. The T-Birds (4-12, 1-4) have dropped 11 straight while facing their fourth state-ranked team.

Thursday, Jan. 26

Girls' basketball

BLOOMINGTON NORTH 58, TERRE HAUTE NORTH 28: Cougars (17-6, 2-3) blow game open with a 20-1 run in the second quarter and cruise to CI victory. Mia Robbennolt 12 points and Ava Reitmeyer and Kenli Sullivan 10 each for North as eight players score in game to end regular season.

DANVILLE 53, EDGEWOOD 18: Mustangs (3-18) had another rough time on the road, trailing 33-11 by halftime. Alayna Flynn and Macey Crider had five points each to lead Edgewood, which goes into the sectional on an 11-game losing streak.

EASTERN GREENE 61, CLAY CITY 33: Eastern recovered after a slow start and buried the Eels under a 37-12 wave in the second and third quarters. Kenady Hudson had 19 points for Eastern, while Keylee Hudson had 16 and Mallorie Elliott 9. Eastern (17-7) finished second in the SWIAC with a 6-1 mark.

South's Maddie Kawanishi was second in the all-around at 34.5 and Mia Langley was fourth at 33.2 and Edgewood's Addison Goerges was fifth at 32.95. Vault: 4. Langley 8.65; 5. Goerges 8.6. Bars: 3. Girls' basketball

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 77, INDIANAPOLIS HOMESCHOOL WILDCATS 47: The Panthers (13-7) won their fourth in a row, blowing the game open with a 23-8 run in the third quarter and finishing with a new season high in points. Abbie Lucas had a career high 16 points for the Panthers, while Carlie Pedersen had 15, Caitlin Heim 12, Julia Lashley eight and Mya Lawrence seven.

OWEN VALLEY 51, WHITE RIVER VALLEY 36: Reagan Martin had a huge game against the Wolverines for a second year in a row, pouring in 31 points, just two under the career best she posted on WRV last year, and grabbing a program record 22 rebounds in the win to end the regular season. Kearstin Cirisi had 13 points. Izzy Avila and Kyle Palmer had 12 points each for WRV.

LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN 76, DUGGER UNION 63: The Lions (12-2) led by as many as 20 but had to hang on. Coda Snyder led a balanced attack for LCA with 24 points while Chauncy Craig had 16 and Cam Craft and Will Wickstrom had 10 each.

BLOOMINGTON NORTH 54, EASTERN GREENE 47: The Cougars (15-6) got out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter but had to hang tough as Eastern battled to the wire in a game rescheduled from earlier in the year. Kenli Sullivan had 14 points against her old mates, while Mia Robbennolt had 13 and Ava Reitmeyer 12. Keylee Hudson led the T-Birds (16-7) with 15 points while Kenady Hudson had 14 and Bianca Wyatt and Mallorie Elliot (an ex-Cougar) had nine points each. Eastern was 15-of-20 at the line.
