Pick any one of the events happening in and around the area to keep your week busy. I’ll be highlighting attractions, activities and festivals right here, every week. From local music and shows to options for those of you who don’t mind traveling a bit, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to check all activities, as cancellations can occur. The events listed are for July 13 to 22.

Featured this week: Third Thursday Block Party

Byesville is the place to be on the third Thursday of the month. Happening on July 20, the monthly event brings food trucks and activities to the village square. Scheduled for July is a performance by musician Michael Mack from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mini golf will be set up, and vendors from the farmers market will be onsite. Bring the kids and let them try out the bounce houses. Many local businesses will remain open later in the evening as well.   • The Secrest Summer Concert Series returns with A1A - Let's Get Tropical this evening in downtown Zanesville. The Jimmy Buffett tribute show starts at 5 p.m. with the opening band and headliner performing from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Secrest Auditorium Parking Lot. For information, call 740-455-8282.   • River Rats and Lock 17 - Live Music on the Lawn. Catch The River Rats and Lock 17 Friday evening on the lawn at the Guernsey County Library Crossroads Branch. The show is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Food trucks will be available, including Guapos Tacos, Up In Smoke BBQ, Campbell's Creative Kitchen and more. For more information call 740-432-7536.   • Food Truck Friday. Peruse the 800 block of Wheeling Avenue Friday night from 4 to 8 p.m. for the best food truck food around and live music from Joe Rio. Beer concessions will also be available.

  • Splash and Dash 5K. Start your weekend with a fun 5k at the Cambridge Developmental Center on Saturday. Get soaked by area first responders as you go along the flat course.   • Seeking Closure, Ember's Rise and Break the Sky. Head to Downtown Arena for a Friday night full of live music. There is a $10 cover charge. The show is set to begin at 7 p.m. For more information call 740-439-9037. Downtown Arena, 1005 Wheeling Ave., Cambridge.

  • Guernsey County Coffee and Cars. Check out rides from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday with a classic car show featuring vintage rides, motorcycles, trucks and more. Food trucks will be on-site and will vary. Advance Auto Parts, 717 Southgate Parkway, Cambridge.

  • Quarter Auction. Raise a paddle and raise some money for Guernsey County Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, July 22. Doors will open at 10 a.m. with the auction starting at 10:30 a.m. Bid on items from local businesses. There is a $5 admission charge, which includes one paddle.
