NEW BEDFORD — If you were to ask Tony Danza "how it's going," he will respond that it's going too well for him as he's been enjoying traveling around the United States performing his one-man show.

"Tony Danza: Standard and Stories" will now be heading for The Zeiterion Theatre on Nov. 11 and Danza can't wait to get to know the Whaling City.

"I've been doing this kind of thing for a while and it's finally clicked. So I'm really excited about it," Danza said in a phone interview on Tuesday.

Danza, alongside his four-piece band, will be telling stories, tap dancing and playing the ukulele as well as performing some of his favorite standards from the Great American Songbook.

"The stories are enhanced by the songs," he  said, adding that he is very excited to perform at the historic Zeiterion stage after all these years.

"It is an attempt to make a connection with the audience with some stories, both professional and personal, that I think people can relate to."

Danza said one of his favorite stories to tell is when his mother met Frank Sinatra.

The Pasta House is now Bocca. But that's not the only change at the restaurant.

The New York Times raved, “Tony’s a live wire who tap-dances, plays the ukulele, tells stories and radiates irresistible charm… He exudes the kind of charisma that can’t be taught!”

Danza calls his show a variety show as well as throwback show where he's the host as well as all the guests. A-level tickets include a meet and greet with Danza on show night.

During one of his shows in New York City, Danza shared, "Being New York City. Single. At this stage of my life, well, you know, if you could probably imagine... it's nice."

"And just so you know what stage of life I'm in. I am in possession, right now, of my reduced fare senior citizen Metro card."

The audience went nuts.

“Tony Danza. You know and love him from his years on television, but you may not know he’s an incredible song and dance man who tells great Hollywood stories," said Rosemary Gill, president and CEO of the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center.

“He usually brings his show to major cities, so we’re really fortunate to have him right here in New Bedford.”

Is there a 'Who's the Boss?' se?

Danza is known for starring on the television series "Taxi," "Angels in the Outfield" and "Who's the Boss?" for which he was nominated for an Emmy and four Golden Globe Awards.

He also hosted the "Tony Danza Show" for two seasons on NBC.

In June 2022, Amazon's Freevee announced that a "Who's The Boss?" revival was in the works staring Danza and his original co-star Alyssa Milano. The story will be about Milano, as a single mom, living with her father (Danza).

A Food Network celebrity chef tasted Mirasol's Chippi. Here's what he had to say.

Original co-star Judith Light told ScreenRant that she couldn't give a “substantive answer," if she would be returning and she would, “leave it up to whatever gods there be.”

Meanwhile, Danza has recently made guest appearances on "Blue Bloods" and "Outmatched" since starring opposite Josh Groban in the 2018 Netflix series, "Good Cop."

(And, by the way, his daughter is getting married on Oct. 22.)

Danza also helms the organization Stars of Tomorrow, a teen Acting Program with the slogan: When you teach your kid how to act, you teach your kid how to act.

"It's my program here in New York City. We've been doing it for the last eight years with the Police Athletic League, and now we're going out on our own," he said.

"It's a very effective way to engage kids, and get them thinking about something other than what they're watching and seeing around them every day."

But above all else, Danza said that being up on the stage is by far his favorite thing.

"I really like performing. But there is nothing like going up on the stage. And it's such a gift to be able to do it," Danza said. "I'm free and it's live and you make stuff up as you go along. It's different every night. It's the most fun thing to do.

"It's like hanging out with me. Whatever happens, happens."
