What to Stream: Movies Featuring NBA Players Currently in the Playoffs

The NBA playoffs are afoot, and since there are only so many hours in a game, why not keep the company of your favorite ballers a little longer? Here are some movies to stream featuring NBA players currently in this year’s playoffs.

Trainwreck: Amy Schumer plays a men’s magazine writer who was raised by her father to have a cynical view on monogamy. Those beliefs are put to the test, though, when she meets a dashing sports doctor played by Bill Hader. Featured prominently is Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James as Hader’s best friend. If you’re looking for laughs, look no further than this movie written by Schumer and produced by Judd Apatow. Trainwreck is available to stream with on HBO Now.

Like Mike: Shad Moss, or as he was once called, Lil’ Bow Wow, plays a young orphan who loves basketball but isn’t particularly good at it. That’s until one day when he comes across a pair of magical sneakers that up his game to a professional level, and before you know it, he’s an NBA player himself. Vince Carter of the Memphis Grizzlies is in the film, as is Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki. If you want something to delight the younger audience members in your home, this will do just fine. Like Mike is available to rent on iTunes.

Linsanity: Jeremy Lin’s current path to NBA stardom was not a simple one. Raised in Palo Alto, Calif., Lin became a popular and successful player at Harvard only to go undrafted in the NBA. After bouncing around from team to team, whether it was here in the United States or overseas in China, Lin finally got his chance to shine when the New York Knicks signed him. He became an overnight sensation, leading the Knicks to victories with gaudy stat lines. If you want to be inspired, Lin’s story is a good one. Linsanity is available to stream on Netflix.
