What to Stream: 3 Chicago Movies to Celebrate the Cubs’ Historic Win

Cubs win! Cubs win! One hundred and eight years of losing are over, and now the North Side of Chicago is home of the World Series champions. To celebrate this momentous and historic occasion, we’re recommending some of the best movies set in Chicago. Here are three Chi-town flicks you can stream right now.

The Untouchables

In 1987, director Brian DePalma gave the world one of the greatest mob movies of all time. Starring Kevin Costner as Elliot Ness, he assembles a small team to take down the notorious crime boss Al Capone. Featuring some of the greatest performances of Sean Connery and Robert De Niro’s careers, this movie even features a great baseball moment. Uh, kind of. It’s actually just murder. The Untouchables is available to rent on YouTube.

Barbershop

There have been two sequels and even a spinoff that had a sequel, but the first in the franchise is one of the best Chicago movies ever made. Featuring a strong cast, with Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Anthony Anderson, Michael Ealy, Eve, and many others, this movie takes place over a single day at a neighborhood barbershop that’s in danger of being shut down in favor of a nightclub. Barbershop is available to rent on iTunes.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

And last but not least, you knew we had to recommend this classic, right? Matthew Broderick was never more charming than he was as this high school student who decides life’s too short to let it pass him by. He, his girlfriend, and his best friend play hooky around the city of Chicago, and even take a pit stop at Wrigley Field. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is available to rent on Amazon.
