By all accounts, Sir Patrick Stewart has had an extraordinary acting career.

The 76-year-old Brit has played parts in iconic film franchises, such as Star Trek and X-Men, not to mention his extensive, award-winning work in the theater. He was knighted by England’s Queen Elizabeth II in 2010. Talk about some serious cred!

And yet, as he revealed in a video taken at a storefront and posted to Twitter this week, the thing he wants most has continued to elude him.

“You know, we all have desires in life, we all have aspirations and hopes,” Stewart said in the dramatic fashion in which we are accustomed to seeing him. “But when I stand in front of a hardware store like this, this is all I want. There is no more. Fame, celebrity, Academy Awards. There’s nothing more.”

The videographer broke into a laugh during the filming, but Stewart, being the pro that he is, never did.

“In fact, look here, look at this wall,” he continued. “I want it all in my own home. In fact, if I could buy this store, and just have it in my backyard forever, I would be so happy.”

The truth is that Stewart surely could buy a hardware store if he wanted to. Maybe he and his good friend Ian McKellen could manage it together, wearing matching aprons.

Who wouldn’t watch a reality show about that?!
