'What Could Go Wrong?' Bruce Campbell and Lucy Lawless Taste Test Gross Halloween Candy

Bruce Campbell suffered through mouthfuls of fake blood during the early days of his screen career — coming up with Spider-Man director Sam Raimi through the ranks of low-budget horror. That makes him the perfect choice to taste test a few of the more disgusting Halloween candies available in your local supermarket aisles. Joined by Ash vs Evil Dead co-star and warrior princess Lucy Lawless, the two consume enough sugar for Lawless to quip, “Got my insulin shot ready, somebody?”

With glowing descriptors like, “It’s disgusting as it looks,” and “Tastes like coffee and rotten tooth,” the taste test could have been an unmitigated disaster. Some of the candies fared better than others, though. Lawless enjoys the Zombie Food, calling it “a little too good for Deadites,” referring to the demonically-possessed zombies that populate the Evil Dead universe. Campbell doesn’t mind it — though possibly just because “there’s bloody crap inside.”

If you need something more frightening than the prospect of cavities, watch Campbell and Lawless tell spooooooky — and true — stories in the video below. There are three terrifying tales: Two of them are set in convention signing booths and one ends with, “I kicked him in the hoo-hah and ran.” Can you guess who told which?

Ash vs Evil Dead premieres immediately after the Evil Dead marathon Oct. 31 on Starz.
