In honor of Weyes Blood’s Titanic Rising turning five years old, Natalie Mering has released a video for “Andromeda.”

The second track and lead single off Titanic Rising, “Andromeda,” is a fan favorite. Mering partially shot the video in 2018 and shelved it, instead releasing a simple galactic clip (the other videos for the singles “Everyday” and “Movies” were more high-concept).

Mering finally finished the video this year, and it was well worth the wait. The clip, which you can watch below, is a psychedelic odyssey featuring Mering in a Barbarella-esque metallic suit, casually riding a meteor.

Back in 2019, Mering told us about the meaning of “Andromeda,” claiming it was loosely based on Greek mythology and the galaxy. “But it’s mostly based on this idea as a woman, accumulating wounds and having to go out there, and be tough, and also wanting to be won over, and how all these things kind of come into a confusing state in today’s times,” she said. “Because there’s such a definite masculinity crisis, that it’s really hard to ask anybody to save you, or to convince you of their trustworthiness. And it’s really hard to take risks, because I think that kind of disappointment can be so distracting, and we’ve chosen to focus so much more on our careers and these other things, that it’s hard to make love — true love — a priority, and be vulnerable like that.”

Mering followed up Titanic Rising in 2022 with the excellent And In the Darkness, Hearts Aglow. Earlier this year, she appeared on Caroline Polachek’s remix of “Butterfly Net.
