‘Westworld’ Season 2: What We Know So Far

Warning: Major spoilers ahead for Season 1 of Westworld:

News about the second season of HBO’s robot cowboy brainteaser Westworld has been hard to come by. But some casting info is trickling out.

Talulah Riley, whose icy-cool blond host Angela was a recurring character in Season 1, has been upgraded to series regular. Her character was last seen knocking out the Man in Black/William. Maybe we’ll find out she’s one of the rebellious hosts at the edge of the woods in Season 1’s bloody cliffhanger.

We also know Ed Harris will be back as William, despite being on the wrong end of that mob’s anger. There’s no word as to whether William’s younger self (played by Jimmi Simpson) will be invited back, or if we’re flashback-free from here on out.

The actor recently told GQ, “I feel like this story, the love affair, we know everything … we don’t have to belabor that point.”

Showrunners have been tight-lipped about the show’s future, but Simpson did suggest that it could go on for “six or seven” seasons. He even likened it to Homer’s epic poem “The Odyssey.”

But maybe the biggest Season 2 tease was in the final episode itself: The reveal of several samurai hosts in a lab. In December, HBO reserved both exploresamuraiworld.com and exploreshogunworld.com, keeping speculation about even the name of this new park alive well until 2018. That’s when Season 2 is expected to open to the public.
