Westport's River Day Festival is back. Here's the details.

WESTPORT — The Westport River Watershed Alliance will be hosting its traditional River Day Festival, in cooperation with the Westport Land Conservation Trust, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at the Westport Head Town Landing, 495 Old County Road. The festival is free and open to the public.

The day will feature many fun, nature-oriented activities for children, as well as over 30 local vendors and nonprofit exhibitors. The Wampanoag Experience group will be well represented with a dedication at 1:30 p.m. of the mishoon canoe recently completed at the Westport Town Farm. Other Native American traditions will be exemplified with Native dance and drumming in the morning, as well as crafts and exhibit all day.

The River Center will be open to the public for viewing of the fish aquariums, the high-powered microscope, and the interactive sand table. Food and beverages will be offered for sale.

Free parking will be available at the Westport High School, and a free shuttle service provided by the Westport Senior Center will run to and from the Head every 10 minutes.
