‘The West Wing’ Alum Janel Moloney Joins ABC’s ‘American Crime’ Season 3 (EXCLUSIVE)

Janel Moloney has joined Season 3 of ABC’s John Ridley drama “American Crime,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Moloney — who starred on “The West Wing” and more recently on “The Leftovers” — will recur as Raelyn, a single mom living on the edge who is attempting to regain the trust of her family after years of betrayal.

The new season of the anthology series will be set in North Carolina, and the plot will deal with labor issues. Ridley, who exec producers with Michael McDonald, told Variety that Season 3 will focus on workers’ rights and reproductive rights.

Moloney joins returning “American Crime” players Timothy Hutton, Felicity Huffman, Regina King, Lili Taylor, Richard Cabral, Benito Martinez and Connor Jessup, who will all take on new roles for the season. Previously announced newbies in the cast are Cherry Jones and “Grey’s Anatomy” alum Sandra Oh, who will both recur, alongside Moloney.

“American Crime” Season 3 will debut in 2017, though no premiere date has been set yet.

Moloney is repped by the Gersh Agency and Suskin Management.
