West Virginia's Will Grier throws highlight-reel TD as time expires in first half (Video)

Will Grier probably drives Dana Holgorsen crazy sometimes with his gunslinger mentality, but that’s part of what makes Grier such a good player.

West Virginia’s final play of the first half against Kansas State was a perfect example of that. After a KSU interception, the Mountaineers took over at the KSU 30 with 10 seconds to go. The 10 seconds gave WVU enough time to pick up some yards before trying a field goal before halftime.

But Grier had other ideas. Instead of firing a quick pass, Grier bided his time, rolled right, avoided pressure and glided back to the left before firing deep to the end zone. By the time he let go of the ball, there was no time left on the clock. It wouldn’t matter as the ball found a wide open Ka’Raun White for a 30-yard touchdown.

The play, which gave WVU a 28-20 lead at the half, was vintage Grier.

He knew he had it all along, too.

Holgorsen had a big smile on his face as his quarterback wandered back to the sideline for an embrace.

The reaction probably would have been a lot different if that pass fell incomplete, huh?

The Grier-to-White touchdown ended up being the deciding score for the Mountaineers, who held on to win 28-23.
