West Palm Beach's award-winning green market back for these 3 summer dates

If the fall return of West Palm Beach's award-winning GreenMarket seems miserably distant, take heart and mark your calendar, some relief is on the way.

The GreenMarket will make three summertime pop-up appearances in June that will coincide with Clematis by Night. (That's right, you get the GreenMarket perks — good food, great vibes — without the brutal heat that comes when you have to show up in the morning. )

If you're thinking, "There's no way this will be anything like the real deal during the winter and fall," think again.

This is not a watered down summertime version of the real deal, which closed on April 28 at the end of its 28th season. Organizers promise that on June 15, 22 and 29, the 100 block of Clematis Street in downtown will be packed once again with dozens of vendors providing locally-grown fruits and vegetables, fresh seafood, fresh-baked bread, locally-sourced honey, ice cream, smoothies, plants, artisanal soaps and much, much more.

West Palm Beach GreenMarket lovers can rejoice as the award-winning event will be back for three 'pop-up' events before the official reopening in October.

Running simultaneously with the third and final 'pop-up' West Palm Beach GreenMarket on June 29, Clematis By Night will feature The Killbillies.
Running simultaneously with the third and final 'pop-up' West Palm Beach GreenMarket on June 29, Clematis By Night will feature The Killbillies.

On June 29 buckle up for the Killbillies. Known for their mix of Celtic, rock, punk, bluegrass, and country, they love to mix things up. Utilizing upright bass, banjo, saxophone, guitars, three-part vocal harmonies and more, this is a musical experience to get you smiling and singing along.

The GreenMarket has been featured in The Boston Globe and named the No. 1 green market in Florida by Cooking Light magazine. It wrapped its 28th season on a high note, reporting a record number of vendors in its history with more than 110.

Though it's hard to imagine that most of the region's good citizens don't already know this, but the West Palm Beach GreenMarket has been ranked the best green market in the country for the past two years in the USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice poll.

If you've experienced the market and agree (and it seems impossible that you wouldn't), help them hit the trifecta by going to 10best.com and casting your vote.

The polls will be open through 11:59 p.m. Monday, July 3.

The West Palm Beach GreenMarket will officially reopen Saturday, Oct. 7 for the 2023-'24 season.
