Wesley Snipes Really Wants to Do Another ‘Blade’ Movie

It’s been 12 years since Wesley Snipes starred in a Blade movie, the 2004 sequel Blade: Trinity. Apparently, he’s eager to reprise his half-human, half-vampire superhero role.

On Tuesday, Snipes hint-tweeted at the potential for a fourth Blade movie to be made.

He then followed that tweet by noting that it’s “up to Marvel” whether another Blade movie actually becomes a reality.

This is not the first time Snipes has publicly spoken about the prospect of a Blade rebirth. Though the initial Blade films were distributed by New Line Cinema, Marvel reclaimed the rights to the character a few years ago. Last fall, during a HuffPost live chat, Snipes indicated that there had been at least some casual conversations about resurrecting Blade.

“It’s in Marvel’s hands. They’re controlling the pace and the flow with that,” he said. “Conversations have been good. They see the value in it. We see the value in it. I’m still in shape enough and fit enough to handle the role. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t really know what’s going to happen to it yet.”

The Marvel Cinematic Universe slate is pretty full through 2019, so it’s unclear how a Blade movie could fit into the schedule, although it’s always possible the semi-mortal badass could pop up in a future Avengers movie.

“I know it’s in the comic book,” Snipes said during that HuffPost interview. “It would be interesting to see where they would place him and where he really would fit in.”

We’ll have to stay tuned and see if Snipes continues to sharpen his teeth.
