Wes Bergmann became the 12th contestant eliminated from “The Challenge: USA” on Thursday night, following his loss to Chris in the arena. In the game “Ripped Off,” players began suspended in the air alongside a giant tower. One was wearing a suit with 10 patches on it. The other person was the “chaser.” The chaser had five minutes to rip as many patches as they could off their opponent. In the end, Chris won this battle by a score of 10-9, sending “The Challenge” legend packing. Watch our exclusive video interview with the eliminated contestant above.

Wes describes the emotion he feels leaving “The Challenge” after 18 years to focus on his family, which includes a newborn baby due any day. “That was the first time that I had uttered it to the producers, who I’ve been with for a long time,” he explains. “There were people in that room that I’ve known for 15 years plus years, so that was why I was breaking down. I was scared to tell everybody, I was scared to tell my colleagues, I was scared to tell the production company. Does an added bit of emotion get added because I’m about to become a father? Sure.”

Wes holds nothing back while discussing Josh‘s emotional decision to break his word and throw Wes’ ball in the hopper. “Sometimes I’m okay with the crying,” he admits. “He’s a passionate man. But if you’re going to get to a point where you are weeping over a decision that you are making, then you know you’re wrong or you’ve made a bunch of missteps to get there. It was pathetic to watch.”

Over his career on “The Challenge,” Wes has won three titles (“The Duel,” “Rivals II” and “All Stars 3”) and become known as one of the fiercest competitors in the history of the franchise. He talks about that legacy, what he’s learned as a competitor and human being, and which CBS star from “The Challenge: USA” could become an all-time great. He says “Survivor” vet Michaela “is most poised to become a legend of the game. She’s got it all.”
