'We're back': Six Forks Burger Co. announces it will reopen as take-out only restaurant

Roughly a month after Six Forks Burger Co. closed, the family-owned restaurant in Schnitzelburg is planning to reopen.

On Sept. 5, Six Forks owner Troy King took to Facebook to announce his burger joint, which opened in 2020, would be closing later that day.

Earlier this week, King posted another video on the restaurant’s Facebook page with the message: “We’re back.”

“We were not aware that we would be receiving phone calls and emails, even got a lot of comments about how we were going to be missed and we shouldn’t close,” King said in the video. “We didn’t close because of financial reasons, we didn’t close because it didn’t work. We closed purely because it was really stressing us out.”

After hearing messages from customers and talking with some employees, King said he and his family decided to reopen with a different set-up.

When Six Forks returns on Oct. 18, it will offer a slightly-smaller menu and operate as take-out only.

The restaurant will have self-serve kiosks and an app for ordering, King said, in an effort to be “fast and efficient.” The restaurant owner previously said the building at 1039 Ash St. will turn into the headquarters for his company, Velvet Couch Hospitality Group, which also operates Fry Daddy’s.
