Mark your calendar: Monday, Sept. 18, is National Cheeseburger Day and several restaurant chains, including McDonald's, Wendy's and Burger King, are offering deals that will be hard to pass up.

McDonald's double cheeseburger deal

McDonald's is serving up two beef patties, pickles, chopped onions, ketchup, mustard and two slices of American cheese — popularly known as the double cheeseburger — for only 50 cents on Monday.

To redeem, customers must download and create an account on the free McDonald's mobile app. No other purchases are necessary to take advantage of the discount.

The double cheeseburger wasn't on McDonald's original menu when brothers Maurice and Richard McDonald founded the restaurant in 1940 but a cheeseburger was. Fifty cents may sound like a good price for a burger, but what about just 19 cents? That's how much a cheeseburger cost at McDonald's in 1948, according to Business Insider.

Wendy's 1 cent cheeseburger

Celebrating National Cheeseburger Day for four full days, Wendy's is offering a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger for just one cent (a penny!) between Monday, Sept. 18, and Friday, Sept. 22, with any purchase.

Customers must create an account on the free Wendy's mobile app or website to redeem the discount. The deal is not valid for delivery orders and only available at participating locations.

A similar story to McDonald's, the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger was not featured on Wendy's original menu when the restaurant was founded in 1969. In fact, Wendy's initial menu only included five items: a hamburger, chili, fries, soft drinks and the Frosty dessert, according to the Wendy's website.

Burger King's seven days of cheeseburger deals

Serving as burger "royalty," it only makes sense that Burger King would try to top its competitors for the best National Cheeseburger Day deal, which the fast food chain is celebrating for seven days. Here are the daily deals:

  • Monday: RoyalPerks members who make at least a $1 purchase will receive a free cheeseburger

  • Tuesday: RoyalPerks members who make at least a $1 purchase will receive a free Jr. Whopper

  • Wednesday: Whoppers are $3 each for RoyalPerks members (on average around $4)

  • Thursday: RoyalPerks members may participate in a buy-one-get-one free deal of Whoppers
