Wendy Williams shares details on her ‘Masked Singer’ reveal: ‘Rehearsals were really, really difficult’

Wendy "The Lips" Williams is reacting to the latest revelation from Fox's hit show, "The Masked Singer."

The outspoken daytime host was unmasked as The Lips on Wednesday night's episode of the singing show. And on her own show on Thursday, Williams - famous for her catchphrase "How you doin'?" - explained how in that costume she was not, in fact, doin' that great.

“The costume was hot. It was so hot I could barely breathe,” she said. “It was so heavy, that’s why I’m sitting on the couch [while performing].”

Williams also called rehearsals “really, really difficult,” noting that they could last up to eight hours a day.

As for her somewhat bungled performance, Williams thought it was obvious it was her under the mask.

“I would have guessed me right away,” she said. “And it didn’t help that I laughed in between and then caught a snort.”

WENDY WILLIAMS: So I was "Lips." They kept calling me "Lips." I wasn't even-- I couldn't get used to answering to that. So I just kept walking.

- On Wednesday night, Wendy Williams was revealed to be the "Lips" on a another episode of FOX's hit show "The Masked Singer." So on her own daytime talk show on Thursday, Williams gave her fans some behind-the-scenes juice on the famously secretive show, including a phone call from host Nick Cannon that, at the time of her casting, she found suspicious.

WENDY WILLIAMS: Do you remember I said Nick Cannon called me and we had an adult conversation?

- Yep. Uh-huh.

WENDY WILLIAMS: We talked about everything else. And I thought he was calling me to tell me, OK, so I'll see you when you get out here. Good-- good luck with the show, are you sure this is what you want to do or giving me advice-- nothing. And I said nothing to him.

- Yeah.

WENDY WILLIAMS: He had no idea

- Williams said she taped her "Masked Singer" appearance before season 12 of her talk show premiered, during a week where her studio was being sanitized for its studio audience. She also explained that being the "Lips" wasn't exactly a walk in the park.

WENDY WILLIAMS: Rehearsals were really, really difficult. You can't-- they were, like, six to eight hours a day. But the costume was hot. It was so hot I could barely breathe. It was so heavy. That's why I'm sitting on the couch.

- During the "Masked Singer," panelist Jenny McCarthy correctly guessed that the "Lips" was Wendy and even appeared on her talk show on Thursday. And Williams admitted her vocal performance and strong New York accent just might have given her away.

WENDY WILLIAMS: Even for me, like, when I watched it, I would have guessed me right away. Yeah, and it didn't help that I laughed in between.
