Wendy Williams on Duchess Meghan's media treatment: 'Nobody feels sorry for you'

Wendy Williams isn't giving Duchess Meghan the royal treatment.

During a clip from the ITV documentary "Harry & Meghan: An African Journey," Meghan revealed that a friend warned her not to marry Prince Harry, predicting a media circus.

"My British friends said to me, 'I'm sure he’s great, but you shouldn’t do it because the British tabloids will destroy your life," the new mother said, adding, "I didn’t get it."

Williams, however, isn't buying it. "Yes you did. You knew exactly what you were doing," she said on her talk show Tuesday. "Please, don’t try to garner sympathy from us."

Williams, 55, said it's common knowledge that a royal title comes with a heightened level of attention.

"Don’t be surprised that the paparazzi are everywhere. Of course! You’re now a royal!" Williams said. "They weren’t following you when you were on ‘Suits.’ We didn’t even know who you were."

Although she "really likes" the couple, Williams doubled down, saying, "Meghan Markle, nobody feels sorry for you. You knew what you were signing up for, girl!"

Williams' commentary starts at the 4:15 mark.

A clip from ITV News has gone viral because of the duchess' emotional response to anchor Tom Bradby asking her how she was doing under media scrutiny since becoming a mother.

"Thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I'm OK, but it's a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes," Meghan said.

Earlier this month, Prince Harry issued an open letter denouncing the coverage of his wife.

"Unfortunately, my wife has become one of the latest victims of a British tabloid press that wages campaigns against individuals with no thought to the consequences – a ruthless campaign that has escalated over the past year, throughout her pregnancy and while raising our newborn son," he wrote in a statement.
