‘Wendy Whine’ Creator Talks Her Viral 2014 Twerk And Journey To Becoming A Flight Attendant

Wendy Davis is spilling the tea on whether she ever quit her job to pursue her aspirations of being a full-time twerk dancer.
The online sensation’s 2014 “twerk routine” on comedian Steve Harvey’s eponymous former talk show has recently gone viral on TikTok. Her moment on stage came after she asked the well-known host if she should quit her job to make money online by posting twerking videos instead. In the lighthearted and comical moments that followed, Wendy confidently got on stage in her memorable blue dress and showed off her skills. She writhed her body and popped her booty out in a routine now dubbed the “Wendy Whine.”
In recent TikTok recreations of her onstage dance moves, social media users mirror her fun energy and capacity to laugh at herself. Wendy’s reflected in recent online posts about the newfound obsession with her dance. She said she’s received “so much love” and “positive energy,” but some were “vicious” trolls.
Funnily enough, the TikToker revealed that she’d been on Steve Harvey as a jewelry model over a year before she got on stage and danced for the cameras. At the time of her now-viral appearance on the show, she was 33.
“I’m a free spirit; I love to have a good time,” Wendy explained in a May 2 TikTok video. “And when they asked me ‘Would you dance?’, [I thought] Why not? What do I have to lose? And who gets opportunities like that?!”
Did Wendy Ever Quit Her Job?
The online sensation admitted she never quit her job to become a twerk video creator. She explained that she is — and has always been — an entrepreneur before her infamous appearance on Steve Harvey. In addition to owning a mobile notary business, she detailed her years working as an actress, model, and now, flight attendant.
The social media star has been a flight attendant for nine months now, working with Delta, United, and Alaska Airlines. She explained that she decided to seriously pursue working in the skies after playing a flight attendant in an episode of Chicago Med. Wendy’s reasons for becoming a flight attendant were the schedule, her love of travel, and fond memories of air stewards’ kindness while she flew as a child. Also, she loves the flight benefits!
What Are Wendy’s Tips for Becoming a Flight Attendant?
Wendy touched on how her professional resume may have helped her land her flight attendant gig. She noted having customer service experience and a knowledge of de-escalating customer issues. Additionally, she said making customers feel safe was another positive attribute.
“They [the airlines] want to make sure you’re capable of keeping the passengers [and yourself] calm,” she explained. “And [that you] know what to do in an emergency situation. And [that you can] de-escalate conflict.”
