Welcome 2024 in style: Celebrations planned across Montgomery area

As we say goodbye to 2023 on Sunday, Dec. 31, the area is preparing to party its way into 2024 in a variety of ways.

Pike Road and Millbrook don’t have NYE plans announced. However:

  • Montgomery has just announced plans for its 2024 Downtown Countdown. It's happening from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Riverfront Park, 355 Commerce St. Enter the park through the walk-in tunnel. They'll have live music, food vendors and, of course, fireworks at midnight. The Red Bluff Bar will be open.

  • Wetumpka is planning a midnight fireworks show over the Coosa River at Gold Star Park, 300 Ready St.

  • Prattville is having a NYE ice skating party with food trucks from 1 p.m. to midnight at Spillway Park.

There’s a lot more happening throughout the River Region, from outdoor fun to fine dining and galas. Here’s a look at how you can plan to count down the year’s final seconds in style:

Guided Nature Hike: Last Sunset of the Year

  • When: 4-6:30 p.m.

  • Where: Adamson Road Trailhead, Alexander City

  • Info: Bring the kids for a hike to the highest point in Russell Forest and discussion about all of the changes that have taken place for local wildlife throughout the year. At the top of Heaven Hill, sit down and talk about accomplishments from the past year and plan our upcoming 2024 successes. As the sun sets for the final time in 2023, snacks and a “toast” will be provided. It’ll wrap up with a return hike just after dark with flashlights.

New Year’s Eve Dinner

  • When: Two dinner seatings: 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve party is from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

  • Where: TASTE, 5251 Hampstead High St., Unit 100, Montgomery

  • Info: Both seating times include a three-course dinner. NYE party includes party favors, champagne toast, and live music with Matt Carroll from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

  • Cost: 5 p.m. seating is $120 per person, 8:30 p.m. seating is $135 per person and includes admission to the NYE party. Both costs include tax, gratuity. Admission to NYE party by itself is $25 per person.

Free New Year’s Eve Bash rock concert

  • When: Doors open 7 p.m., show is 8 p.m.-midnight

  • Where: Warehouse 231, 3500 Wetumpka Hwy., Montgomery

  • Info: Classic rock show with Jupiter Road, Love Chyld, and Larry Thomas Moore Jr. Safe, family-friendly and smoke free. BYOD. Coolers allowed.

  • Cost: Free

Pratt Pub & Oyster Bar New Year's Eve Party

  • When: 7 p.m.

  • Where: Pratt Pub & Oyster Bar, 1720 E. Main St., Prattville

  • Info: A fun filled night with DJ Jen rocking everyone into 2024. Party favors and champagne toast at midnight. Breakfast will be served shortly after midnight.

  • Admission: No cover charge.

  • Reservations: No reservations required.

Harriott II New Year’s Eve Cruise

  • When: 10 p.m.-midnight

  • Where: Harriott II Riverboat, docked in Riverfront Park at 200 Coosa St., Montgomery. Enter park through Commerce Street tunnel.

  • Info: Watch the Montgomery fireworks show and ring in the New Year while cruising down the Alabama river on the beautiful Harriott II riverboat. Enjoy drinks from the fully stocked bar and food from Wheelhouse Grille. Dance the night away with live entertainment on all 3 decks. Must be 21 to purchase tickets.

  • Cost: Tickets are $75 per person for inside reserved seating which includes 3 Hot 4 Cold Hors D'oeuvres, champagne toast with commemorative glass, party favors and fireworks. $45 per person for outside patio seating, not including food.

New Year’s Eve Bash at One More at the River

  • When: 8 p.m.

  • Where: One More at the River, 4330C River Oaks Road, Millbrook

  • Info: Jeff and one of his faithful Johnsons, Tony Mills, are rocking the river this New Year’s Eve. Rockin’ Robyn and Sexy D will be slinging them. Toast at midnight. Swag and giveaways.

  • Info: Andy Norman and the Jukebox Allstars are performing as everyone welcomes 2024. Champagne at midnight and small breakfast afterwards

  • Cost: $10 walk-in with no seat guarantee. Cash only.

Cluster bomb New Year’s Cosplay Rave

  • When: 8 p.m.-2 a.m.

  • Where: The Sanctuary, 432 Goldthwaite St., Montgomery
