"Weird Al" Yankovic may be a comedian, but in real life, he takes his relationship with his wife of over two decades seriously.

Years after Yankovic became a household name for his popular music parodies, he met his now-wife, Suzanne, a former TV marketing executive and avid photographer.

Suzanne grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and outside of Dallas, Texas, and spent her career in marketing, she said during a March 2022 appearance on the Good Friend podcast with host Jamie Lee Curtis.

The two met when they were both in their 40s and married on Feb. 10, 2001, before having their daughter, Nina, a few years later. Yankovic had no problem meeting Suzanne later in life — it seemed he was just waiting to find the one.

“The [1999 VH1 episode of] Behind The Music made too much of a big deal out of the fact that I was pushing 40 and still single. I wasn’t upset about it at all,” he told Rolling Stone in 2014. “But when I got married I found I was even happier, and when I had a kid I was even happier, still.”

Decades after their wedding, the couple are still going strong. In an Instagram post wishing Suzanne a happy birthday in 2023, Yankovic referred to her as the “love of my life.”

So who is Weird Al Yankovic’s wife? Here’s everything to know about Suzanne Yankovic and her relationship with the comedian.

She’s a former Hollywood marketing executive

After attending college at Trinity University, Suzanne moved to California for a marketing job at 20th Century Fox, according to her Instagram.

When Suzanne met Yankovic, she was already far into her career, having been promoted to senior vice president of international marketing promotion and publicity at the studio in 1998. In that role, she oversaw all international creative advertising for the studio’s TV series and movies.

On the March 2022 episode of the Good Friend podcast, Suzanne talked about her demanding career, the long hours she worked and the friends she made through her job.

“We were all at the different studios [in] marketing, publicity, photography and development. We were all working a lot, we were all passionate about what we did, and we had a lot of fun,” she said.

They met through a mutual friend

Suzanne met Grammy-winning song parody artist Yankovic through mutual friend Bill Mumy, an actor and musician. Before the two came face-to-face, though, they got to know each other over the phone.

“We had this relationship where we talked over the phone for weeks. Going to meet her for our first date, I was like, 'I hope she's cute, 'cause I just might marry her,’ ” Yankovic told WIRED in 2008.

Still, Suzanne was skeptical at first because he was already immensely popular at the time with multiple Grammy wins, and she knew him only as his “Weird Al” public persona.

“I thought to myself, ‘Oh, I don’t know about this,' ” she told Rolling Stone in 2014. “Then I thought, ‘That’s kind of shallow of me to just be looking at a persona. People are often so different than how they appear.’ ”

When they finally met in person, Yankovic and Suzanne clicked and eventually married on Feb. 10, 2001.

“Thank you @susanyankovicphoto for the 20 happiest years of my life,” he wrote on Instagram on their anniversary in 2021, alongside a photo of Suzanne on their wedding day.

They share a daughter

Yankovic and Suzanne welcomed their only child, Nina Yankovic, on Feb. 11, 2003.

On their daughter’s 18th birthday in 2021, Suzanne posted two throwback videos of Nina as a child on Instagram.

“Thank you for the millions upon millions of laughs and for sharing your gigantic heart and mind,” she wrote. “You are thoughtful, sweet, sophisticated and hilarious. I love the woman this girl has become.”

Yankovic, though, took a more comedic approach to the occasion, posting a clip of a young Nina with a gecko climbing on her nose on Instagram. Wishing her a happy birthday in the caption, he also added one caveat, “Sorry, this is the most recent footage I could find of her.”

Yankovic and Suzanne’s daughter began her freshman year at Williams College in Massachusetts in the fall of 2021, according to Yankovic's Instagram, and inherited a creative spirit from both her parents.

“She’s majoring in English, environmental science and art. So she’ll save the world somehow I’m sure,” Yankovic told Bill Maher when he appeared on an episode of his Club Random podcast in 2022.

When not posting photos in support of Yankovic and his recent projects, Suzanne showcases her artsy snaps on her Instagram account.

She takes pictures of everyday moments, including a heart formed in the ocean by water and sunlight, geometric cityscapes and nature landscapes.

She’s best friends with Jamie Lee Curtis

Suzanne and Curtis crossed paths when Yankovic and the Halloween actress judged a talent content together.

Curtis, who writes children’s books, sent titles over to the couple’s daughter, Nina, who was 5 years old at the time. After that, Suzanne and Curtis began to see each other around town, like at the store and the hairdresser, which led to the start of their friendship.

Suzanne was a guest on an episode of Curtis' Good Friend podcast, where the two discussed their bond and explained their nicknames.

“We used to tell each other, ‘You are the friend I’ve always wanted.’ And we turned that into FIAW — the friend I’ve always wanted,” Curtis shared.

Suzanne is openly supportive of her best friend on social media. She helped Curtis get ready for the 2023 Golden Globes, where she was nominated for best supporting actress.

When Curtis won an Oscar for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, Suzanne posted a photo of Curtis walking a dog and at the award show with the caption, "✨Everything in the Universe is interconnected. Dogs rock. Rocks feel. And I am grateful for @jamieleecurtis and the whole @everythingeverywheremovieteam for the gift of this film."

The couple enjoy giving back to the community by supporting charities and organizations.

In 2023, they hosted a screening of Yankovic’s biopic as well as a Q&A, with proceeds supporting voter education and advocacy in Texas — where Suzanne grew up.

The same year, they attended the Big Slick Celebrity Weekend in Kansas City, Missouri, to raise money for the Children’s Mercy organization. Along with founders Paul Rudd and Jason Sudeikis, they helped raise $3.5 million for the charity.

Suzanne often shows off her support for all of her husband's projects on her social media and even joins him on tour — at least to the most enticing locations like Sydney and various cities in Europe.

“She comes out and visits every few weeks, whenever she wants to get out of town,” Yankovic said on the Club Random podcast in November 2022. “She looks at the itinerary [and decides] ... She’ll see Boise and [say] 'eh.'

After he wrapped a U.S. tour in 2022, he told PEOPLE that spending time at home with Suzanne was likely in the cards.

“I don't know what's next. I've been very fortunate to do a lot of things that I never dreamed I would have the chance to do. Maybe something will drop into my lap,” Yankovic said. “Maybe I'll just spend several months at home with my wife, which would also be fun.”
