Weezer performed their brand new song “End of the Game” on Tuesday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. It marked the song’s live debut on TV, mere hours after the band released the track earlier in the day.

First thing’s first: “The End of the Game” is the lead single from Weezer’s upcoming album, Van Weezer. After realizing what a big reaction Rivers Cuomo’s impromptu guitar solo part in “Beverly Hills” gets live, the band decided to focus their next album on similarly blissful solos and classic rock shredding. As such, the album’s influences include KISS, Black Sabbath, Metallica, and, of course, Van Halen. Hopefully it’s a step up from the underwhelming Black Album.

On the Kimmel stage, Weezer brought their guitar-focused “End of the Game” to life. With Rivers Cuomo and his Gibson Flying V leading the way, the band delivered a loud, glitzy, arena-sized performance of the track. If we are to glean anything from the late-night appearance, it’s that Weezer will have no trouble holding their own on the upcoming “Hella Mega Tour” alongside Green Day and Fall Out Boy.

Catch a replay of their performance below, and pick up tickets to the “Hella Mega Tour”.
