Acoustic shadow: Some may not know but the statues that went up all over the south at places that were not battlefields was big business between 1880 and 1920 .A few company's sent salesmen around the south talking to veterans and the widows of confederate veterans .Who then formed a 19th century GoFundMe in each town to pay for and erect statues ...…..They were not commissioned for battlefield parks like veterans groups did immediately after 1865 . …..These statues are the forerunner and premise to the 1958 movie "The music man."Where carpet baggers traveled the south …...Anyway . Moving these statues to appropriate places like museums and battle field national parks is not erasing history .
