The Weeknd Details Marvel Comic Book, Teases New Album

Issue one of “The Weeknd Presents: Starboy” arrives this summer

The Weeknd has shared more details about his upcoming collaboration with Marvel Comics. Issue one of “The Weeknd Presents: Starboy,” featuring a comic book version of Abel Tesfaye in the titular role, will hit shelves on June 13. The Weeknd, La Mar Taylor, and Christos Gate penned the story, which pits Starboy against “cannibalistic criminal mastermind Jack ‘The Chef’ Smiley” to save the city of Alphatron. The new graphic novel series is based upon the Weeknd’s 2016 album by the same name.

In other Weeknd news, it seems the singer-songwriter is approaching completion on his follow-up to Starboy. Several of his recent Instagram posts have been simply captioned, “mastering,” implying that he’s in the final stages on the next album. Starboy took home the Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album earlier this year. He appeared alongside Kendrick Lamar on the Black Panther soundtrack cut “Pray For Me.”
