Weekending in Springfield: DIY gingerbread, live music and shows

St. Nick will soon make his way down the chimney but before he does, there's still a weekend of other activities to enjoy.

The Capital city will be hopping with live music, shows, and more Friday through Sunday. Here are five to check out.

Decorate cookies

Golden Hour and Ad Astra Wine Bar and Market are joining forces Friday evening for a gingerbread cookie sale.

Pre-decorated cookies or do-it-yourself kits that can be assembled at the market, 308 E Adams St., or at home. The sale is 5-8 p.m. or until supplies last.

UNCHAiNED performs

Local band UNCHAiNED will play Danenberger Family Vineyards, 12341 Irish Rd. in New Berlin, starting at 7 p.m. Friday.

The band features 2018 graduates of Rochester High School and is in the process of producing its sophomore album "Waterfront" per its website.

Sinatra and friends

Taking the stage at the Hoogland Center for the Arts, Frank Sinatra impersonator and tribute artist Robbie Howard will have two shows this weekend.

Howard will cover Christmas tunes from Sinatra and other famed musicians such as Dean Martin and Johnny Mathis, starting at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Last chance to see zoo lights

This weekend is the last opportunity to take in the holiday lights at Henson Robinson Zoo, 1100 E. Lake Shore Dr.

Running from 5-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, bring 3-D glasses to see the displays. The glasses also can be purchased at the zoo gift shop. The last admission is at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $7.50 for adults, $5.50 for children 3-12, and free for ages two and under.

Christmas at the Conservatory

Back for the second year, the Christmas at the Conservatory: A Musical Cabaret is scheduled for a Saturday evening show.

Live music from the Tommy Sagins Band and performances by Springfield Youth Performance Group Company dancers and alumnae will start at 6:30 p.m., at 501 W. Elliot Ave.
