Weekend things to do: A new waterfront restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, Ed Sheeran tickets, Bad Bunny cocktail …

With all due respect to the great Eddie Cochran, there is a cure for the summertime blues — a new rooftop restaurant on the water with a fresh Mediterranean menu of stimulating inventiveness. It’s called Olive & Sea and it opens on the Intracoastal in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday.

Located at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, on the northwest side of the 17th Street Causeway bridge, Olive & Sea is a cool, relaxing space with 156 seats spread throughout a glass-encased indoor dining room and a bright, uncluttered terrace that wraps around the building. Not a bad seat in the house.

The chef is Miguel Toro Franco, who offers a menu with different layers of intricacy. One approachable handheld is the Shawarma-spiced Burger, with charred tomato, feta and grilled onions on a challah roll. It might be paired with Sumac Spiced Sweet Potato Fries or Hand-Cut Steak Fries seasoned with za‘atar.

Beginning this weekend, Olive & Sea will be open seven days a week, serving lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. Brunch service on Saturday and Sunday will begin on Labor Day Weekend.

Dining for dogs:Thursday brings the kickoff for the Delray Dines for Dogs series, a fundraiser for Big Dog Ranch Rescue, with the inaugural dinner at Akira Back in The Ray Hotel in downtown Delray Beach. The 6 p.m. dinner ($95) is a sellout, but you can attend the after-party from 8:30 to 10 p.m. at the hotel’s Rosewater Rooftop lounge (with DJ Tumbles), which will send 15% of the proceeds to the rescue.
