If you are someone who likes to build an outing around live music, the next few days in South Florida offer a menu of big-name performances that (adjusts hyperbole hat) in its eclecticism and excellence may be unrivaled in any market anywhere in the U.S. this weekend.

The highlights include Bob Dylan (reopening his tour at the Broward Center with two shows); The Eagles (with two nights on their farewell tour at Hard Rock Live); genre-challenging star Jon Batiste (at the inaugural Montreux Jazz Festival Miami); 2024 Best Country Album Grammy winner Lainey Wilson (at New Country 103.1 Rib Round Up); and opera icon Renée Fleming (at Festival of the Arts Boca).

Then there’s a smaller show, perhaps my favorite, taking place on Saturday at the ArtsPark in downtown Hollywood, where former Talking Heads guitarist-keyboardist Jerry Harrison will play a free concert that explores the band’s classic album “Remain in Light.”

On with the shows!

THURSDAY

Eye candy: The Thursday night block-party series in downtown West Palm Beach known as Clematis by Night returns with a country-pop performance by The Samantha Russell Band from 6 to 9 p.m. But the Leap Day gathering also will include the unveiling of one of those creative ideas that we need more of around here: Flamango Vending is a vending machine that will offer affordable art pieces by more than two dozen Palm Beach County artists for under $50. On Friday, Flamango Vending will move to the nearby Garden District Taproom. The shop is part of the West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority’s Placemaking Mini-Grants program. Visit Downtownwpb.com/FlamangoVending.

Take a chance:If you’re looking for a tribute band fix, one of the best local homage-ers, Rock of Abba, will be in downtown Delray Beach on Thursday night as part of the free Twilight Concert at Old School Square series. The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Visit Facebook.com/DelrayOldSchoolSquare.

BOGO beer: Speaking of Garden District Taproom, the self-pour bar that opened nearly a year ago will celebrate Leap Day with a buy-one-get-one deal on select cans of beer Thursday through Sunday. Get details at Instagram.com/gardendistrictwpb.

FRIDAY

‘Rowdy’ nights:Bob Dylan begins a new leg of the tour supporting his album “Rough and Rowdy Ways” with two concerts at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale on Friday and Saturday. The 2020 album was the 82-year-old Dylan’s first collection of original songs since 2012. Rolling Stone called it a “masterwork.” Tickets for each 8 p.m. concert are down to resale options, but several are priced at the original $59.50+ and many are available for less than $100+. Visit BrowardCenter.org.

Almost already gone:More than 50 years after the release of their eponymous debut album (which included indelible hits “Take It Easy,” “Witchy Woman” and “Peaceful Easy Feeling”), The Eagles bring The Long Goodbye farewell tour to Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with Steely Dan opening. You can expect to pay around $500+ for resale tickets at MyHRL.com.

Montreux in Miami: The inaugural Montreux Jazz Festival Miami opens with an extraordinary lineup of performances Friday through Sunday at The Hangar at Regatta Harbour on Dinner Key in Coconut Grove. Prime country: Fresh from her Grammy win a few weeks ago for Best Country Album with “Bell Bottom Country,” Lainey Wilson is the headliner at the New Country 103.1 Rib Roundup on Saturday. The grilled-meat hootenanny takes place at iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach and will include performances by buzzed-about performers Nate Smith (“World on Fire,” “Whiskey on You”) and Warren Zeiders (“Pretty Little Poison,” “Weeping Willow”), Parkland-raised rising star Ashley Cooke, Rodney Atkins and Chayce Beckham. Heads-up:The Rhythm Foundation’s Hollywood ArtsPark Experience music series will host a free concert by former Talking Heads guitarist-keyboardist Jerry Harrison in the bandshell within downtown’s Young Circle on Saturday at 7 p.m. In revisiting the Talking Heads album “Remain in Light,” which included songs such as “Once in a Lifetime” and “Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On),” Harrison will be joined by revered session guitarist Adrian Belew, the session musician who was so essential to that 1980 album. SUNDAY

Sunday laughs:Former Miami Dolphins star Channing Crowder will be at the Dania Improv in Dania Beach at 6 p.m. Sunday to share his irrepressible wit, as heard locally on WQAM-560’s “The Hochman and Crowder Show with Solana” and on the excellent podcast “The Pivot.” He played football for the Florida Gators, so no shortage of material.
