Sep. 21—Looks like a beautiful weekend in store for central Indiana. Friday's high is 84 with a low of 53 degrees. Great outdoor weather. Saturday and Sunday will reach into the upper 70s with no rain predicted.

James Dean Festival in Fairmount

The 47th annual James Dean Festival hosted by the James Dean Museum will be held Friday through Sunday at locations throughout Fairmount with activities at the museum as well as Play Acres Park, 300 E. Madison St.

Highlights include the James Dean Look-Alike contest, Little James Dean Look-Alike contest, 50's dance contest, parade, carnival rides, a street fair, live music and more.

Ducktail Run at Gas City Park

More than 2,000 classic cars from over 40 states and Canada travel to participate in this show. Vehicles are 1972 and older.

Friday and Saturday hours are from 7 a.m. to dusk; and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Gas City Park, 718 S. Broadway, Gas City.

No admission charge for spectators.

ASO opens new season Saturday

The Anderson Symphony Orchestra opens its 56th season with a 7:30 p.m. concert Saturday at the Paramount Theatre, 1124 Meridian Plaza, Anderson. Maestro Rick Sowers will retire in April after 35 years as the symphony's music director and conductor.

Performances will be delivered by ASO musicians Amanda Baer, Rebecca Chapell, Joe Everett and John Huntoon.

Atlanta Earth Days to mark 50th year

The 50th anniversary of the Atlanta New Earth Festival kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 23, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 24, at 105 E. Main St., Atlanta, Indiana.

More than 600 vendors will bring homemade arts, crafts, antiques, collectibles, and more. Entertainment from local musicians will be on the free stage.

There will be a Kids Zone, a train ride with the Nickle Plate Express, and lots of other activities.
