Learn how to make your new favorite holiday drink, step back into a holiday of the past, get some quality time with Santa or catch some bluegrass or holiday classics on stage this weekend in Bloomington and Ellettsville.

Garlands and greenery at Wylie House

Celebrate like its 1835 by taking a Traditions Tour of the Wylie House Museum, 307 E. Second St.

Wylie House was built by Indiana University's first president, Andrew Wylie, in 1835 and now serves as a historic house museum open to the public and also serves as an academic resource for classes and research. Guided tours are offered 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, Dec. 6-16, with tours every hour. Last tour begins at 3 p.m.

Guides will talk about the holiday history of the Wylie House as well as how the holidays were generally celebrated in 19th Century Bloomington.

Happening Saturday: Krampus returns to Bloomington for a block party at Switchyard Brewing Company

Special needs day with Santa and Mrs. Claus

Families with special needs children and adults are invited to Fountain Square from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday for a free photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus, using your camera.

The photo session will be inside the Fountain Square atrium on the main level. There will be a bucket for donations to support the Stride Coalition.

Harmony School Gift Market fundraiser

Shop, make and eat from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Harmony School to support scholarships and spring trips.

The Brown County Toy Chest and Morganstern Books will have select merchandise for sale with a percentage of the sales price going to the school's scholarship fund.

Children ages 4-12 can also craft handmade gifts while the adults shop, and take home two for $10. Fees will support the high school spring trip.

There will be chili, baked goods and drinks available for purchase, with funds raised going to the middle school spring trip.

Support Stone Belt's artists during two-day sale

Stone Belt promises this year's holiday art sale will be bigger and better than ever. Head to 2815 E. 10th St. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday for framed and unframed prints, 2024 art calendars, coffee mugs, notecards and umbrellas featuring the artwork of Logan Gilliatt.

There will also be a silent auction featuring items from local businesses. Bring a nonperishable food item for Community Kitchen of Monroe County and be entered into a drawing for passes to an upcoming three-course brunch and cocktail pairing.

Impress guests with new cocktail skills

Shake and stir you way to impressing your holiday guests by learning from the experts at Cardinal Spirits, 922 S. Morton St., from 3-5 p.m. Saturday.

Bar manager Tricia Petit and Cardinal Spirits co-founder Jeff Wuslich will share tips on improving your technique, winter flavors, batching for crowds, and great garnishes. Make four festive cocktails while you're there and leave with ideas for creating your signature adult beverage.

Tickets are $45 per person and include recipe cards for recreating the cocktails at home, snacks, a holiday syrup to use at home, Cardinal's books "Indiana Cocktail Recipes," and a 15% discount on spirits and canned cocktails. Santa's arriving on Sale Street

Santa arrives on Sale Street in Ellettsville at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning. He's leaving the reindeer behind and getting a lift on a fire truck. Santa will be at the Ellettsville branch of the Monroe County Public Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for free photos. Children can pick up a toy and send a letter with all their Christmas wishes.

Grab some breakfast at the Masonic Lodge from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for $10.

Sale Street will have plenty of activities including free crafts, holiday music and caroling, cookie decorating and hot chocolate, a race track, and balloon sculptures. Make a holiday ornament in Military Park behind the library.

Making Spirits Bright with Quarryland Men's Chorus

Join the Quarryland Men's Chorus for its 22nd annual winter concert, directed by Dr. Casey J. Hayes and Assistant Director Mitch Serslev. Hear traditional favorites like "Carol of the Bells" and "O’Come Emmanuel," and just try to stay in your seats with twists on "Jingle Bells" and "The Holiday Tango!"

Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students, available from members and at the door. Cash/check/card/PayPal accepted.

Shows are 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Church, 2420 E. Third St.

Henhouse Prowlers bringing the twang to The Bishop

Catch bluegrass band Henhouse Prowlers on stage at The Bishop, 123 S. Walnut St., 8 p.m. Saturday. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 18 and over show.
