Brad Pitt Vs. Paramount
Paramount feels spurned by Brad Pitt’s Plan B, the production company behind the acclaimed drama 12 Years a Slave. The studio (which has a deal with Plan B) believes Plan B breached their agreement by not offering Paramount the chance to finance or distribute the film. Sources at the studio say they’re rooting for 12 Years anyway — and that their understanding is that Pitt didn’t know about the snub. The studio just wants Plan B to remember that going to Paramount is plan A.
Netflix Vs. Theater Owners
Netflix honcho Ted Sarandos outraged movie-theater owners during a Film Independent Forum keynote address in which he said, “I’m concerned that as theater owners try to strangle innovation…not only are they going to kill theaters, they might kill movies.” Maybe not the best way to win them over, Ted.
Chris Brown Vs. The World
The oft-troubled singer — who’s on probation for his 2009 assault of Rihanna — pleaded not guilty to a new charge of misdemeanor assault after a fight broke out with an unidentified man near a Washington, D.C., hotel on Oct. 27.
