Wednesday’s titular sleuth will soon be back on the case, and with Season 2 on the horizon, we’re tracking all the new intel trickling in.

Centering on the morbid teen’s misadventures while enrolled at the peculiar Nevermore Academy, Season 1 followed her efforts to “master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body,” according to the official synopsis.

The supernatural drama comes from Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, who also executive-produce and serve as co-showrunners. After a string of gruesome murders, the finale revealed that Tyler (Hunter Doohan), a hyde, had been manipulated by Ms. Thornhill (Christina Ricci) into murdering those she felt were responsible for her family’s misfortunes as part of an elaborate revenge plot. Wednesday defeated both Ms. Thornhill and Crackstone — a Puritan who despised outcasts and had been brought back through magic — with help from her classmates, including Eugene (Moosa Mostafa) and Enid (Emma Myers), who finally shifted into her werewolf form. And in a stark change from her first day, Wednesday allowed her colorful roommate to hug her.

Exact Season 2 plot details remain unknown, but co-showrunner Miles Millar teased plans to incorporate more of Wednesday’s family dynamic into the show.

“We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles,” Millar previously told TVLine. “Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.”

Millar also acknowledged that the series is called Wednesday, so they “really want to focus the show on Wednesday.” However, they “definitely want to feature the family as we did this season in a couple of episodes if we were to get a second season.”

Additionally, star and producer Jenna Ortega revealed during her conversation with Elle Fanning for Variety’s Actors on Actors series that the show is ditching the love triangle between Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) and Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White). Instead, they’ve decided to “lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more.”

Steve Buscemi will reportedly play Nevermore Academy’s new principal, according to Variety. In Season 1, Gwendoline Christie’s Principal Weems was murdered by Mrs. Thornhill via a poisoned needle while shapeshifting as Tyler to confirm that Mrs. Thornhill was, indeed, the mastermind behind the town’s numerous murders.

Additionally, Thandiwe Newton (Westworld) has been added for Season 2, but we don’t yet know who she’s playing.

During Netflix’s annual Tudum fan event in June 2023, cast members Emma Myers (Enid), Joy Sunday (Bianca) and Hunter Doohan (Tyler) confirmed that a new member of the Addams family will appear in the upcoming season. Details on who, though, remain under wraps.
