UPDATE: Rocket Lab's first Electron launch set from Wallops today

UPDATE: Rocket Lab says that with weather conditions looking good, its first Electron launch from Wallops Island is a go for today.

The ‘Virginia Is For Launch Lovers’ mission is scheduled to launch Tuesday from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 2 at Virginia Space’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport within NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility, the company said in a release.

Launch window is 6-8 p.m.

Weather again played the spoiler for Rocket Lab's renewed attempt to launch its Electron rocket from the Wallops Island Flight Facility in Virginia.

Rocket Lab's “Virginia is for Launch Lovers” mission was scheduled to lift off Monday from Complex 2 at Virginia Space’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport within NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility after a series of scrubs in December.

But the company said in a statement Sunday that "unfortunately the weather is no-go for tomorrow’s launch attempt at NASA Wallops."

Rocket Lab said its next launch attempt is planned for Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 6-8 p.m., and the forecast is promising for Tuesday's launch.

NASA Wallops tweeted that "weather for Tuesday is 90% favorable for the 6-8 p.m. EST launch window."

The first effort to launch Electron was scrubbed on Dec. 7 and subsequently pushed back five times until Dec. 20 before Rocket Lab and Wallops selected Jan. 23.

The mission is the first of three Electron launches for HawkEye 360 in a contract that will see Rocket Lab deliver 15 satellites to low Earth orbit by the end of 2024.

These missions will grow HawkEye 360’s constellation of radio frequency monitoring satellites, enabling the company to better deliver precise geolocation of radio frequency emissions anywhere in the world.
