Coming out as pansexual didn’t just allow Wayne Brady to live his life openly and freely, it also introduced the entertainer to the modern dating world. And he was not ready for the onslaught that hit his DMs. While on the red carpet at the 35th GLAAD Media Awards, he explained how much things have changed for him.

“Yes, my DMs are popping and it’s amazing,” Brady told E! News. “I’ve never gotten an eggplant in my inbox. It’s shocking. Much respect to women, I’m sorry, I know how you feel when a random guy just goes, ‘Hey, I like you so much, I’ma show you my junk.’ Like, no bro, that isn’t necessarily the calling card that I want. But I’m flattered, thank you.”

The “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” star admits that even though the “attention from everybody” is nice, he’s still single. He’s spending time with himself before he’s ready to hit the dating world.

Back in August, the “Let’s Make a Deal” host came out as pansexual, saying, “I love all people equally, and now that includes myself.” Since then, he’s had to figure out what it means to be pansexual and navigate his new life, which unfortunately sometimes includes explaining pansexuality to others. Ahead of hosting the GLAAD Media Awards, he explained that a common misunderstanding about being pansexual is that “you’re an indecisive bisexual.” He broke down his feelings about his sexuality to People.

“What the definition basically boils down to is, regardless of gender, regardless,” he said. “So that means that I am happily free to fall in love with anybody here. If you’re gay, if you’re straight, if you’re non-binary, trans, I don’t care.”

Wayne’s honesty about living his truth has inspired others to make major changes in their lives, believing it’s not too late to be their true selves and find new happiness.

Up next, Wayne Brady can be seen in the title role of the highly-anticipated Broadway revival of “The Wiz,” which begins previews March 29, with opening night on April 17.
