PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY/NEXSTAR) – WAVY-TV 10, a leader in local news and entertainment, is pleased to announce the addition of The CW Network to our lineup, beginning this fall.

The CW Hampton Roads enhances WAVY-TV 10’s commitment to delivering diverse and engaging content to viewers across the region.

Starting September 1, 2024, viewers can watch The CW’s popular lineup of hit primetime entertainment, live sports, and special event programming on our digital subchannel 43.2. By incorporating the CW Network into our local offerings, WAVY-TV 10 continues to elevate the local news, lifestyle, and entertainment options available to our audience.

“We are excited to bring The CW Hampton Roads to our viewers,” said WAVY-TV 10 and WVBT FOX43 Vice President and General Manager Carol Ward. “Expanding the availability of WAVY News 10 newscasts and ‘The Hampton Roads Show’ alongside regional and national sports coverage opens more options for our audience to stay informed and entertained. This move reflects our commitment to serving our viewers and providing them with valuable and engaging programming across various genres.”

Along with 15 hours of primetime programming each week, The CW Hampton Roads will showcase a weekday lineup that includes The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Jennifer Hudson Show, to timeless favorites like Friends, and Suits, offering something for everyone.

And for sports fans, with the addition of NASCAR Xfinity series racing, WWE’s NXT, LIV Golf, and ACC college football and basketball, there’s no better place for sports in Hampton Roads.

The addition of The CW Hampton Roads to WAVY-TV 10’s digital subchannel is part of the station’s ongoing efforts to enhance the viewing experience for audiences in our region. With this latest expansion, we continue our commitment to delivering high quality local news, lifestyle and entertainment programming that reflects the interests and preferences of our viewers.

Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST), the parent company of WAVY/WVBT, made an official announcement on May 1 that its television stations in Chicago, Illinois (DMA #3), Norfolk, Virginia (DMA #43), and Lafayette, Louisiana (DMA #125), will become affiliates of The CW Network on September 1, 2024.  All three stations will begin carrying the network’s primetime entertainment, live sports, and special event programming at that time.

“The addition of these Nexstar-owned stations as affiliates—two of which are among the country’s Top-50 largest markets, highlighted by Chicago, at  #3—will bring the number of Nexstar-owned CW stations to 42, covering more than 36% of U.S. TV Households,” said Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division.  “As The CW’s #1 affiliate group, Nexstar is very pleased to be bringing the network’s programming to these stations this fall, especially with NASCAR Xfinity series racing and the WWE’s NXT joining a very robust lineup of sports programming, including LIV Golf and ACC college football and basketball.  Adding the CW’s programming to them will offer advertisers a variety of new linear and digital opportunities to reach millions of viewers.”
