A Wave Machine Created A Terrifying Tsunami That Injured Dozens Of Swimmers

Even a seemingly harmless water park ride can turn dangerous.

A Simple Day At The Water Park

What should have been a fun day at the water park ended up being a nightmare for visitors to China's Shuiyun Water Park on July 29th when the wave machine malfunctioned during the hours of operation.

A Nightmare Experience

The footage circulated on Twitter, showing a terrifying 10 foot wave plowing through swimmers and sending panicked people flying. A spokesperson from the park released a statement after the incident.

"It was caused by a mechanical fault. Only around 10 people were injured. The wave pool was closed for a day for repairs. It's already been fixed and will be open tomorrow."

Luckily Everyone Survived

However, the official injury count is actually 44, with three people still being treated for broken bones and other more seriously injuries. It wasn't disclosed whether or not the park visitors who had to endure this malfunction were refunded for their tickets.
